Where possible and technology permits harmful  chemicals are either reduced in usage or eliminated. As an example of this, solvents and cyanides are no longer used by the company.

The company complies with all local and national  regulations and works to the approved codes of practise of the industry. The company has been independently  assessed under the COMAH regulations 1999 and is well below the lower tier threshold. As part of it’s overall environmental policy the company was awarded ISO14001:2004 for its environmental management system. It also holds an Environment Agency (Defra) licence under the Pollution Prevention & Control Regulation, without which it cannot operate.

 

The company has the following aims :-

  1. Assess the company’s activities and environmental effects.
  2. Reduce the amount of waste produced.
  3. Reduce the consumption of materials, water and fuels.
  4. Reduce or limit the production of pollutants.
  5. Increase the use of recyclable and reusable materials.
  6. Limit noise within and around the site.
  7. Eliminate all possible risk to employees and members of the public from processes and activities associated with the company.
